Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC)

On May 25, 1985, an organization called the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) was formed with six countries in the Middle East. The most important organization of the Middle East GCC is similar to the European Union. The primary aim for GCC was a single currency exchange system among the six countries in the Middle East, supply and exchange of electrical equipment, supply of water and minerals, and mutual aid cooperation. Knowing GCC is very important for medical report check.

Gulf Council is the short name of Gulf Cooperation Council. Its headquarters is in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia and the official name of GCC is “Cooperation council for the Arab states of the gulf.” The six countries that make up the GCC are Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Oman, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait. Three countries have also applied for GCC membership, namely Jordan, Morocco and Yemen.

GCC was formed with the objective of a single currency exchange system, but the organization has so far failed to achieve that goal. All of them still maintain separate currency systems such as the currency of Saudi Arabia is the Saudi Riyal (SAR), the currency of Qatar is the Qatari Riyal (QAR), the currency of Oman is the Omani Riyal (OMR), the currency of Bahrain is the Bahraini Dinar (BHD), the currency of Kuwait is the Kuwaiti Dinar (KWD) and the currency of United Arab Emirates or UAE is the Emirati Dirham (AED).

The most powerful or valuable currency in the world is the Kuwaiti Dinar (KWD). Another interesting thing you should know is that, of the six countries mentioned there are no rivers, they supply their drinking water in a special process among themselves. An internal organization within the GCC is “GCC Standardization Organization (GSO)”. Yemen became a member of this organization in 2009.

You must remember that Yemen is not a member of GCC but a member of the GSO Organization under the GCC. While applying for the GCC medical test or while the medical report checks , since the name of Yemen comes up, many people have the misconception that Yemen is also a member of the GCC. Hope you understand.
